How do your personal unique qualities best fit the International System?
My husband and I were youth leaders for seven years. During that time I learned that is was very important to be a good listener and a positive Christian role model to those kids I spent time with. Most of the kids are now like my very own and I love them very much. I feel that I would best fit the International System because I strongly believe that I could be a positive role model for teenagers. Our kids are the future and they need strong Christian adults around them that will take the time to listen to them and teach them to be strong Christian role models themselves.
What is something few people know about you?
Just about everyone knows that I love to be around my kids and their friends. What some people don't knw is that I love to play HALO. That is the game that my boys play and now I love to play it with them. I think that I am the worst player ever, but I love playing it. It gives me the opportunity to spend some quality time with them. They all laugh at how bad I really am.
What do you do to stay healthy?
To be perfectly honest, I don't do as much as I should. I do sit-ups at night, I ride bikes occasionally, I mow my own lawn (the whole 3/4 acre) with a push lawnmower, and I try to eat things that are good for me. I don't over eat, in fact, most people tell me I don't eat enough. I know I should be doing more but I am what God made me and I am happy being the size I am.
Everyone talks about "family values". What are they?
To me family values are what we base our life on. It is the way we react with one another, the way we treat each other, the Christian manner in which we live and how loyal you are to those around you. I have taught my kids that by respecting others and treating them the way they want to be treated is the Christian way to be. We should love one another, honor their wishes, be true to ourselves and follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. As long as we do those things then our lives and those around us could be happier and there wouldn't be as much arguing and discord among the communities in which we live.
What is your worst habit? Why?
My worst habit would be that I completely butt into my kids lives. I have a 17, 16, and 11 year old and I am constantly in their business. I don't do it to make them mad, I do it because I love them and I want to be able to protect them from getting hurt. I have tried to be honest with my kids and have always wanted them to be just as honest with me. I want them to be able to come to me and discuss anything with me, good or bad. I am their mom, but I also want to be someone that they can trust, a friend. My second worst habit is coffee. I love coffee!
