For many years, volunteering and service have been important to me and now I have a chance to teach the value of community outreach to my children.  By participating in the International System I am able to actively demonstrate the value of making a difference in my community while never losing sight of my commitment to family.  These activities strengthen our families today while building the future for our communities.

What is something few people know about you?

An outdoor girl at heart, I am at peace wade fishing and sight casting to tailing redfish around the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge and the Rockport Bay systems. In fact, my first date fishing with my husband, Kirk, was lucky. We caught the coveted Texas Coastal Grand Slam: a Redfish, Trout, and Flounder. It was certainly love at first catch in more ways than one!

What do you do to stay healthy?

My healthy lifestyle is maintained through keeping a positive attitude and a well balanced life.  This includes eating a diet high in nutrients and antioxidants, exercising for increased energy and heart health, and staying focused on my family.  Incorporating healthy habits like parking farther away from the store, taking the stairs, and lunges and bends while studying also help!

Everyone talks about family values. What are they?

They are the standards and morals each family tries to live their lives by.  Our family values include honesty, integrity, faith, forgiveness, encouragement and with three children….importantly, sharing.  We try to incorporate these beliefs into our lives each day and stay focused on what matters most.
