Service is one of the hallmarks of the International system, and I have dedicated my life to serving my family and community. Through my work with community groups, outreach programs, Texas state legislators, and others, I have spread the word on Mental Health awareness. I feel fortunate to be able to live and breathe my platform, and feel that by educating others about mental health, I am helping create a better future for my family and community.

What is something few people know about you?

I am a voracious reader of Nascar romance novels! As if romance novels weren’t already ridiculous someone had the brilliant idea to throw in a Nascar theme. Unfortunately, I’m completely addicted. In fact, my idea of the perfect Saturday morning is to be tucked away in bed reading stories like Dangerous Curves or Love in the Fast Lane.

What do you do to stay healthy?

Staying healthy is about tending to the mind, body, and spirit. Subsequently our hearts are a major connection to all three! I recently learned through the Go Red Foundation that over 92% of women are in jeopardy of developing cardiovascular disease. Due to this fact, early prevention of heart disease is a major part of my fitness plan.

Everyone talks about “family values”. What are they?

Family values are the cornerstones through which families define themselves. They are steeped in tradition, rich with history, and represent the best of what we have to offer to the next generation. As a multicultural individual I am honored to pass on to my daughter the collective values of my Eastern roots while helping her embrace a strong Western independent spirit.
