Mrs. Grand Prairie 2010

How do your personal/unique qualities best fit the International System?

I am a vibrant, friendly, and enthusiastic person with a great personality, good since of humor and optimistic thinking.  My life has not been easy; I was forced to take care of myself at an early age.  But even then I stayed optimistic, kept a strong belief in God, and got through whatever hardships that came my way.  I will not back down from a challenge whether great or small, and even though I have never competed in a pageant before, I didn't let that stop me because this can be an opportunity to make a difference and experience new things.

What is something few people know about you?

I'm a Trekkie!  Most people don't know this about me, but I'm a Star Trek the Next Generation nerd.  I know everything about the Next Generation from Data's positronic brain to Georgi's eye visors.  I have seen every episode of the Next Generation plus every movie they did.  Because I love Star Trek so much, for my birthday last year, my husband bought me a miniature version of the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-D – Star Trek Space Ship.  That's the best gift I ever got, now all I need is the Star Trek crew.

What do you do to stay healthy?

As a dancer being healthy and staying fit is a big part of my life.  I dance twice a week at the studio and I do a workout with weights to tone my upper body.  Along with working out, I also watch what I put into my body.  I cut soda out of my diet and I drink a lot of water and 100% juice.  I also eat small meals throughout the day to keep my metabolism up.  I eat a lot of fruit and I try to cook with fresh vegetables instead of canned vegetables.  Having a good eating habit is very important because it doesn't matter how much you workout, if your not eating right your just defeating the purpose.

Everyone talks about “family values”. What are they?

Family values are loving each other, supporting each other, and taking care of each other no matter what.  They are tradition and/or beliefs passed down through generations; a concept of teaching your children the knowledge of right and wrong and being there for them whenever they need you.

What is your worst habit? Why?

I have a very bad habit of biting my lips.  I can remember biting my lips every since I was a child.  It might have something to do with the fact that I have dry lips.  I try to keep them moisturized but sometimes I end up eating the moisturizer off.  It definitely gets on my husbands nerves.  We could be sitting watching television and I will start biting my lips – he will look over at me with a weird what the heck are you doing look, and all I have to say to him is...” I can't help it, I have to bit my lips”.
