How do your personal/unique qualities best fit the International System?
Being a representative of women and their achievements in life, marriage, and community is an honor. I feel as though God has gifted me with the ability to pick up a microphone or simply stand in front of a group of people and deliver what they need to hear. I have always been drawn to leadership roles and positions that enable me to work hard and make a difference in the lives of the people I touch.
What is something few people know about you?
Few people would ever know or guess that I am fearful of large bodies of water due to my inability to swim; however, it is on my list of goals to gain the courage to learn!! My family loves the water, and I someday want to enjoy it with them!!
What do you do to stay healthy?
To stay healthy, I am conscious of my diet, drink a lot of water, and like to walk on the treadmill. This is a form of exercise I can structure around my children and work it in no matter what the weather is like!! I admit that “working out” is not my favorite thing to do but it is important I take care of myself so that I can take care of my family. Having three active children, I don’t sit much and that definitely helps keep the metabolism running high!!
Everyone talks about “family values”. What are they?
Family values are different for every family but for The Steele Family, our family values are based on three core strengths…God is number one in everything we do from the beginning of your day to the end, always have respect for one another (even your siblings!!), and a strong foundation of trust. We don’t see ourselves just as a “family” but as a “team”, and it takes allfive of us working together to live life to the fullest!
What is your worst habit? Why?
My worst habit would have to be the inability to say “NO”!!! I like to help others who are in need. I love the satisfaction of knowing that I have helped serve in some way that is positively affecting the life of another. This isn’t really such a bad thing except when it begins to take away from family time, but thank goodness I have a husband honest enough to tell me when my plate is overflowing and making a “mess”! I then know it is time to step back and reevaluate!!
